Can PhotoLog access my photos?
No. We use zero-knowledge encryption. Not even our servers can access your photos.

Yes. You can export everything at any time, uncompressed.
Is there a grace period before deletion?
Yes. We offer grace periods and notify you before deletion. Your data remains encrypted until deletion.
Do I need to use your storage?
No. Just upload and go—or bring your own storage if you prefer more control.
What encryption algorithm is used?
AES 256 encryption algorithm. Additionally, the key is never sent to PhotoLog servers or anywhere on the network, so no one apart from you can view your uploads unless you share your encryption password.
Can each album have a different password?
Every album can have a different encryption password.
What happens if I lose my encryption password?
If you lose your encryption password, you won't be able to recover your data. We cannot recover encrypted data if the encryption password is lost.
What information is required to sign up?
We require a valid email address and billing information (processed by Stripe). However, all your media can be client-side encrypted, making it impossible for anyone (including PhotoLog staff) to access it without your decryption key.
Can I pay anonymously with crypto?
Yes, if you want to use PhotoLog 100% anonymously, you can also pay by crypto.
What does PhotoLog do with my photos?
Absolutely nothing. Your media is yours and yours alone.
What media formats are supported?
We currently support jpg, jpeg, png for photos; rm, ram, mp4, ogg, webm for videos; and tif, cr2, nef, x3f, dng for RAW files. More types will be added over time.
Are there any limitations on media viewing?
Some formats like rm, ram, x3f, and dng cannot be viewed using the online player. To view these files, you will have to download them locally. Only a thumbnail is visible online for those formats.
Do I retain ownership of my media?
Generally yes, however you still need to own the media and not infringe any laws. Otherwise, we might be forced to terminate your account.
How is billing information handled?
All your billing info is processed by our payment processor Stripe. It does not touch our servers.
Who can see my photos?
Your data is only visible by default to the people with whom you share your subscription with. People outside your subscription cannot see your photos unless you specifically allow them to.
What is the maximum upload file size?
Currently the default maximum upload file size is 100Mb. If you believe you need more, please send us an email and we can try and increase your limit.
Can I upload more than 100Mb?
The data you upload is yours only. We have no ulterior motives and do not sell your data to other parties.
Is my data safe with PhotoLog?
We have a proven track record for years of keeping our customers' data safe and not selling it to other parties.
Does PhotoLog support two-factor authentication?
Every account can set up two-factor authentication so that even if your password is stolen, no one can access your account.
How often are backups made?
Our infrastructure is backed up every 24 hours using snapshot technology by our hosting partners. Our databases are backed up every day. Backups are encrypted and stored off site.
Is my data stored redundantly?
All of your uploaded data is stored in multiple encrypted places to make sure you never lose it.
